Diet Tip of the Day Carbohydrates

There are many diets today that stress that carbohydrates are bad for your body and to avoid them at all cost that carbohydrates is the reason why health effects such as heart disease and diabetes occur.

Dont be afraid of carbohydrates. You body need good complex carbohydrates for energy. Your muscles and brain also needs carbohydrates for fuel and overall health. Its the amount and type of carbohydrates that can put on weight and contribute to health issues...


There are carbohydrates that are complex and are beneficial to your health. There are other carbohydrates that has no nutritional value and should be avoided. 

Let me give you an example of what I mean:

Foods that contain beneficial carbohydrates: 

  • Fruit and vegetables
  • Whole-grains
  • Lentils and beans 
  • multi-grain and wholemeal breads and pastas 

Foods that contain Carbohydrates that isnt beneficial and should be kept to a minimum:   

  • White bread and pasta
  • Cakes
  • Sweets
  • Takeaway foods
  • Processed foods and cereals 
So you see you can have carbohydrates and it is beneficial to your health. It is just a matter of what type of carbohydrate you consume on a daily basis.
