Yes I know the title sounds odd but this is for everyone out there who is under weight.......
Being underweight can have its own problems and can affect health depending on how underweight the person is and the reason why they are underweight.
There are many reasons why someone may be under weight
- Not eating enough
- Genetics
- Medication
- Illness
- Over exercise and not eating enough
If you are under weight, the best thing to do is to go to a health professional such as a Nutritionist or even your GP (depending on your situation) to get a full dietary plan and health assessment.
The trick to gaining weight the healthy way is to workout how much calories you need to consume in order for your body to function healthy (maintenance).
Here is some other tips and tricks to help you get on tract:
- Avoid simple sugars and processed foods
- Eat a rainbow of fruit and vegetables: you can also eat as much vegetables as you like
- Eat protein foods with every meal
- Consume carbohydrates such as sweet potato and whole grains such as oats
- Have 6 meals per day
- Have at least 8 glasses of water per day
- Do regular resistance training to assist with muscle growth
- Have quality food
The main thing you need to remember is gaining weight is different from losing weight. It may take some time before you start to see results. If it takes longer then normal dont give up, keep going and you will eventually see the results you are after.
